What is the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network?
The ACE Electoral Knowledge Network (www.aceproject.org) is an online knowledge facility that provides comprehensive and authoritative information on elections, promotes credible and effective electoral processes by offering knowledge, capacity development and electoral assistance services. It also provides users with comparative data and news related to elections and it acts as a forum for election practitioners to meet and share knowledge and experiences. It is freely accessible to all and it has more than 100,000 visitors every month.
The ACE Electoral Knowledge Network was established in 1998 as the ACE (Administration and Cost of Elections) Project by IDEA, IFES and UNDESA, as a systematic on-line repository of election information, covering 9 topic areas. ACE has now evolved into a much broader and dynamic endeavour and is the result of a collaborative effort between nine organisations: IDEA, EISA, Elections Canada, the Federal Electoral Institute of Mexico (IFE), IFES, UNDESA, UNDP and the UNEAD. The European Commission is an ex-officio member.
The new version of ACE features information on nearly every aspect of elections, with an emphasis on sustainability, professionalism and trust in the electoral process. The major aim of the project is to provide election officials, electoral assistance providers and stakeholders with all necessary information to increase the transparency and credibility of electoral processes.
