About Electoral Advice
Through its facilities and services, Electoral Advice brings together reputable election practitioners from across the globe to interact and collaborate on given thematic subjects, to share expertise, lessons learned and know-how on the field of elections.
The interaction of the members of the ACE Practitioners' Network generates election-related knowledge that is then codified, retained, shared and adapted to be applied in local contexts and to be used and re-used by other election practitioners confronting same or similar challenges.
How does “Ask a Question” work?
Every question posed by users through Ask a Question is reviewed by the ACE Network Facilitators who assess whether it is relevant or irrelevant: if a question is deemed “irrelevant”, it is then rejected and the user receives information of the rejection. If a question is deemed “relevant”, depending on the complexity and nature of the subjects covered, it can either be forwarded to the members of the Practitioners’ Network and be answered as a consolidated reply or be directly answered by ACE Network Facilitators by directing the concerned user to relevant sections of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network.
- ACE Network Facilitators have the discretion to reject any question that they deem as inappropriate, objectionable or irrelevant.
- ACE Network Facilitators have the discretion to edit questions before these are submitted to the Practitioner Network.
- ACE Network Facilitators have the discretion to edit the commentaries made by the experts before a consolidated reply is made available publicly and posted on the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network’s web sites.
What is a “consolidated reply”?
Consolidated replies gather the individual contributions made by the members of the ACE Practitioners’ Network to questions submitted by users. A consolidated reply consists of: a summary of the individual answers put together by the ACE Facilitators; an acknowledgement to those who have contributed to answering the question; links and reference to additional resources related to the question; and the contributions that have been individually provided by the members of the Practitioners’ Network.
What should I know before submitting a question?
Before submitting a question to the Practitioners’ Network, we invite users to do a search on the ACE Encyclopaedia and to systematically browse the Archive of Questions and Answers, the central repository of previous questions and answers. Your question may have been already posed and an answer may be available.
What is the Archive of Questions & Answers?
The Archive of Questions & Answers is a dynamic, central repository of electoral information and knowledge of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network. It systematically collects the questions submitted by users and the consolidated replies generated by the members of the ACE Practitioners’ Network and the ACE Network Facilitators, which are codified according to the thematic area/s which they pertain, and retained into this searchable database.
What is the ACE Workspace?
The ACE Workspace serves as a “virtual” meeting place for registered members of the ACE Practitioners’ Network to collaborate on common tasks, assignments and projects, to share ideas, resources, experiences and lessons-learned, and to generate knowledge and push the election field forward. In the workspace members can answer questions posted by ACE users, engage in “Online Discussions” and collaborate on common tasks through “Working Groups”, consisting of specific tasks set by one or more ACE Partner organizations. Participating in the Working Groups includes collaborating with other network members in reviewing publications, developing case studies, drafting policy papers and more. Completed tasks and other outputs produced by the Network are then referenced in the relevant sections of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network’s website and made public to the ACE users.
