Question:How is the Head of State selected?
Answer(s): g. Inherited monarchy
Comments: The rule of the State is hereditary in the family of Al Thani and in the line of the male descendants of Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Bin Jassim. The Emir is the head of State. His person shall be inviolable and he must be respected by all.

Comments: The Emir shall appoint the Prime Minister, accept his resignation and remove him from office by an Emiri order; and the resignation of the Prime Minister or his removal from office shall entail all Ministers. Answer(s): l. Not applicable
Comments: The Constitution states that 30 out of the 45 members of the Al Shoura Council are to be elected by direct, general, secret ballot and the Emir shall appoint the remaining 15 from amongst the ministers or other persons. In reality, Qatar holds only nation-wide elections for the Central Municipal Council, which has limited consultative powers aimed at the improvement of municipal services. The last (partial) legislative elections took place in 1970.
