Spain: Election 2008: the countdown begins, Tenerife News (2008)

Spain has just endured one of those encuestas in which selected groups of voters entertain their questioners with their current voting feelings. The PSOE under Mr Rodríguez Zapatero has come out a winner with 42.4% of those asked insisting they will vote for ZP as ‘the most popular party leader’. The PP’s chief Mariano Rajoy acquired 38.6%, giving ZP a lead over him of 3.8 points. Other political parties, including the communists under Gaspar Llamazares, shared the remaining 19%.
