Direct Democracy Provisions (National Level)
Question:Are there any Legal Provisions for Direct Democracy Procedures at the national level?
Answer: b. No
Comments: f) Referendums were however held on 11th July 1967 to determine the extent of popular support for separation from St Kitts; and on 6th February 1969 for the approval of a constitution for an independent republic of Anguilla. There was no constitutional or legal basis for the holding of those referendums because Anguilla’s status was unconstitutional and illegal.
