Answer(s): f. Inherited monarchy with a Governor appointed by the Monarch
Comments: Art. 1(2): Her Majesty shall be the Head of State of Solomon Islands. Art. 27(1) There shall be a Governor-General of Solomon Islands who shall be appointed by the Head of State in accordance with an address from Parliament and who shall be the representative of the Head of State in Solomon Islands.

Electoral System (Chamber 1)


Question:What is the electoral system for Chamber 1 of the national legislature?

Comments: The 50 Members of the Parliament are elected from single-member constituencies by First-Past-The-Post system. Constitution Art 47 (2): Each of the constituencies prescribed under Section 54(1) of this Constitution shall return one member of Parliament. National Parliament Electoral Provisions Act, Art 55 (1): When the result of the election has been ascertained, the Returning Officer shall forthwith declare to be elected the candidate for whom the majority of votes has been cast, and such declaration shall be made in the following terms— "I hereby declare that is elected".
