Question:Following the close of the voting, where are the votes first sorted and counted?
Answer: a. The polling stations
Comments: Immediately after the close of the poll, the presiding officer shall, in the presence of such of the candidates or their representatives and their polling agents as are present, proceed to count, at that polling station, the ballot papers of that station and record the votes cast in favour of each candidate or question. Comments: A candidate or a representative of a candidate or a counting agent may, if present when the counting of the ballots is completed, request the presiding officer to (a) recount the ballots; and (b) again recount the ballots for a second time. Public Elections Regulations
