There are no parties that support candidates, most of the candidates have the backing of national societies after allowing them to support their candidates in elections and campaigning for them. The government has left the decision open to the new parliament as to how individual members want to organise themselves for future contests. The election of the members of the parliament will comply with the regulations of the individual candidate elections.

For a party to be a registered party that can nominate candidates in elections for public offices, it should have constituency-parties which have to, at the same time, be distributed among more than 5 Shi/Dos (regional level). When a registered party nominates candidates for proportional representative National Assembly members, it has to deposit 15.000.000 Won, or approximately 12.000 USD per candidate. The number of seats reserved for proportional representation is 46, which is the maximum number of candidates a registered political party can nominate in the general election for the National Assembly. An individual who wants to be an independent candidate in a constituency has to collect more than 300 but less than 500 signatures of voters who are registered in the constituency concerned. Candidates for constituencies, whether they are independent of party-nominated, have to make the same amount of deposit, which have to be paid by the candidates themselves.

The law takes into account two moments or stages to make up a new party: one for integration and one for registration. The purpose of the first stage is to request authorization from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) to carry out activities of proselytism for 60 days that will allow the party to gather the necessary amount of signatures for registration. Then the representatives submit their affiliation book to the TSE, which revises and verifies the signatures. If the party complies with the necessary amount of signatures, then the representatives submit a registration application along with a certified act of the session in which the party approved its declaration of principles and its charter, as well as its name, colors, and symbol. In order to be registered, a party needs to submit a number of signatures equivalent to 3% of the votes that were cast in the previous presidential election.

In India, only candidates contest elections. However, some of these candidates are set-up and sponsored by political parties. There is no spearate registration of political parties for contesting an election. Registration of political parties is done by the Election Commission (section 29 A of Representation Act 1951) when certain simple requirements, such as contribution of the party, name, and registered office of the party etc. are met.
More important is the 'recognition' of political parties either as 'national party' or 'state party', which depends upon geographical spread of the party and a certain percentage of votes obtained in the last preceding general election. Candidates set up by recognised parties get preferential treatment in the allocation of election symbol reserved for such party.

The French overseas departments (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion) elects candidates to the French Senate and House of Representatives. The overseas departments follow the same rules as the metropole regarding the organization of the elections. They do however enjoy certain specificities concerning electoral expenditure : certain travel expenses of the candidates are not taken into account in the ceiling of candidates' election expenses (article L.52-12 of the electoral code). Besides, the French Parliament is discussing a bill which would allow elections to be held on Saturday in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guiana (because of the time lag, people from these departments knew the results of the elections in the metropole before they voted).

a) Present its application signed by at least one thousand citizens, whose at least 50 must have their residence in each province, and 20 in each region.
b) Register members distributed according to the following quotas: 15 in at least 40% of the districts in the country, 20 in every province and 10 in every region
c) Have a number of members equal to or above 4% of the whole valid votes cast in the last presidential elections.
f) Present the statutes that regulate their activities and a declaration of principles.
The law clearly distinguishes two stages or steps in the process of conformation and legal registration of a party. The first one is a preliminary stage, in which the organization aiming to become a party must present before the electoral authority a request of authorization signed by at least a thousand citizens in full possession of their constitutional rights, which must be accompanied by a declaration of principles, a program of action and the statutes that regulate their activities. In the second stage, once the request is approved, the party has a period of eleven months to recruit the number of members necessary to obtain legal recognition. In order to contend in elections, parties must have juridical status and duly present their lists of candidates.

A political party does not have to be registered to take part in an election. There is no party registration requirement in Sweden, but there is a voluntary possibility to register the party denomination to protect the name from improper use. The application to have a denomination registered is submitted to the Swedish Election Authority and must contain a name consisting of words. The denomination must not be a sub-department of a political association and the application must be seconded by a certain number of persons entitled to vote; 1500 for Riksdag elections, 100 for county council assembly elections and 50 for municipal assembly elections. Furthermore, the denomination cannot be assumed to be confused with any other previously registered name, or the denomination cannot be mistaken for a name which has been removed from the register not more than five years ago due to a change of denominations.
