  • Dec 22, 2010: OSCE Electoral Observation Mission to Belarus The OSCE was invited to observe the presidential elections in Belarus. In total, 452 observers were deployed on Election Day, representing all of the 44 OSCE participating States. Ambassador Geert-Hinrich Ahrens (Germany) is the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission.
  • Apr 28, 2010: Roundtable discussion on 'The Ways of Improving the Activities of the CIS Observation Missions at Elections in CIS Countries' (Belarusian Telegraph, 2010) According to Sergei Lebedev, the CIS observation missions are an integral element of the internal electoral monitoring. The CIS Executive Secretary said CIS missions have made considerable progress in developing the methods to monitor election campaigns. Yet, there is a lot of work ahead to make elections really democratic and to ensure full freedom for people to express their will.
