  • Nov 03, 2010: Zanzibar:EISA Continental Observer Mission to the 2010 Zanzibar General Elections Following an invitation extended by the Zanzibar Electoral Commission, EISA will be sending an Observer Mission to observer the Zanzibar general elections in Zanzibar which are scheduled to take place on 31 October 2010.

    The Mission will be composed of 13 members and is expected to arrive in Stone town on 24 October where it will hold a two day election stakeholder meeting ahead of Election Day. The Mission will remain in the country until 3 November in order to observe the voting and counting processes as well as post polling activities.

    The Mission's observations will be based on international standards for credible elections, including the Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation and the African Union Declaration on Principles Governing Democratic Elections.
