Is it compulsory to be on the voters register?

Question:Is it compulsory to be on the voters register?
Answer: a. Yes
Comments: Citizens are legally obliged to respond to requests for registration information from their local electoral registration office. If they do not respond, or if they provide false information, they may receive a £1,000 fine. Not being registered may also affect their credit rating. However, citizens may register anonymously. If one is registered anonymously, instead of one’s name and address appearing on the electoral register, a code will be added to the register instead.
