UMAR KIYIMBA

I'm 32 years old Ugandan national and I hold a Master of Business Administration from Makerere University. I have 10 years’ experience in election management working at the Electoral Commission of Uganda. I'm charged with overseeing all electoral related activities and the conduct of Political Parties in the Eastern Region of Uganda. I also have experience in election observation and monitoring. Recently, in April 2015, I was Head of Mission for the International Conference on Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) election observation team in the Republic of Sudan. ICGLR is an intergovernmental body comprised of 12 member states around the great lakes region. The team was comprised of representative from the Republic of Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, Republic of Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Uganda, and Republic of Zambia. The mission was successfully executed and a comprehensive report was issued to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Member States of the Great Lakes Region and through them to the Heads of State. I'm involved in mentoring and inspiring young people in my community. I'm a Board Member of my former secondary school. I'm desirous of seeing a society that is empowered to make choices. I want to see more young people involved in leadership roles
