Sarah Birch

I am a Reader in Politics at the University of Essex, United Kingdom. I specialise in the comparative study of elections in emerging and semi-democracies. I have studied electoral systems in post-communist Europe, and I am currently engaged in a comparative research project on electoral integrity and corruption in post-communist Europe, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. I have been involved in election-related projects for International IDEA, the OSCE, USAID, and IFES, as well as the UK Electoral Commission and the (UK) Association of Electoral Administrators.
