Bujar Islami

Bujar Islami was appointed for the position of Public Outreach Advisor with UNAMI (Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq) on January 2011; the role is to provide advices to counterparts from the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq in planning, development and implementation of the VE campaigns. In period 2007 – 2008, Bujar Islami had 3 different assignments in Nepal, at first as Long Term Observer with the Carter Centre, after that as Regional PO advisor under the UN mission and then he was promoted to Regional Electoral Advisor, dealing with all aspects of electoral preparations in that region. Bujar Islami served also as Electoral Consultant for Out-of-Country Voting (OCV) Program for the Iraqi Council of Representatives Election in 2005. Before that, he served as Regional Public Outreach Officer for the National Assembly Elections in Afghanistan working under UN. He also worked as Country Chief of Voter Education for the Out-of-Country Voting Program for the Iraqi 2005 National Assembly Election, organized by IOM. In 2004 for the first time he joined the International Organizations working in the field of elections as Voter Education Officer in the Country Office in Iran dealing with Out of Voting programs for Afghanistan's Presidential Elections. Prior joining international organizations, in the period 1993-2003, he served as IT expert in several Ministries of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, responsible for the implementation of various IT projects in the governmental ministries.
