Milena YOTOVA1.Professional experience: Since 1999 my professional career has mostly been devoted to humanitarian affairs, promotion of democracy and the rule of law, and respect for human rights (rights of the children, women's rights, gender equality, disabled persons, etc.). I have gained a solid experience in the mentioned fields while working as Expert and Diplomat at the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Organizations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria (from October 1999 to March 2015) and Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the United Nations in Geneva (from July 2005 to July 2008). My rewarding experience as EU Long/Short Term Observer in Togo and Ivory Coast (2010), Guinea and Mali (2013), Egypt and Tunisia (2014) motivated me to apply for the position of Elections Desk Officer at the Democracy and Electoral Observation Division of the European External Action Service where I have been working since April 2015. As an EU citizen and a person committed to human rights I am honored to contribute, through my daily work, to the achievement of free and fair elections, and a better life for people in developing countries. 2.Education: Master's degree in International Relations and European Integration from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia (1992 – 1997) and Post-graduate studies in International Relations and International Organizations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva (2003 – 2004). |
