Recommendation 8 (Measures to sustain Emerging Democracy/Human Rights) Uganda 2006

Persons who are eligible to stand for elections should not be excluded by unreasonable or discriminatory requirements such as level of education. In addition, measures to avoid conflict of interest should not unduly limit the right to stand for election. The Constitution and the laws should ensure equal opportunities for all Ugandans to stand for office without unreasonable restrictions.
