Recommendation 23 (Media) Kenya 2007

The powers of the Media Council should be more clearly defined and set out in law. Further provisions relating to media coverage of elections should also be refined and their status clarified. Provisions in the Media Act prescribing penal sentences should be removed as these are un-proportional and incompatible with international standards in this field.
