Sierra Leone: Final Report, Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, The Commonwealth Secretariat (2007)
This report was published by the Commonwealth Secretariat as a result of an observation mission for the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Sierra Leone. The 2007 elections in Sierra Leone marked a very important transition in the country. For the first time, political power was transfered from one elected civilian government to another. Furthermore, for the first time it was introduced the first-past-the-post system for the election of the parliament members. Lastly and most importantly, these elections tested the country's democratic stability: this was the first election held without the presence of UN peacekeepers.
