The elections were generally conducted in line with international standards The legal framework generally provided for a democratic, transparent and inclusive election process. The 2008 Constitution established the separation between the administrative and the judicial branches in the electoral power and the extension of voting rights to members of the security forces, non-convicted prisoners, certain foreigners and citizens older than 16 years.
