Bangladesh: Preliminary Statement, Parliamentary Election, EU, (2008)

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) has been present in Bangladesh since 7 November 2008 The Parliamentary election held on 29 December was the ninth Parliamentary election since Bangladesh secured independence in 1971. The elections were originally scheduled to take place on 22 January 2007 under the administration of a non-partisan caretaker government, as provided-for in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
