Georgia: Preliminary Statement, Presidential Elections, NDI (2008)

This is the preliminary statement of the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) international election observer delegation to Georgia. The delegation monitored the January 5 presidential election in the country and restated the international community’s support for the advancement of democratic processes in Georgia. The statement does not include a final conlusions but admits that the delegation did encounter some flaws in the electoral process. The election's main aspects, however, were in line with democratic principles.
