Nepal's Election and Beyond, International Crisis Group (2008)

This report focuses on the elections of the Nepal Constituent Assembly in 2008. The preparation of these elections is crucial in Nepal’s peace process. Major challenges remain, even after peace has come: violence and intimidations are still common. The report makes a few recommendations to the Government of Nepal, the Electoral Commission, the Political Parties and ultimately to the International Community. These elections will only be a first step towards a stable peace in Nepal: security, justice, reconstruction and economic development will be the next issues to consider.
