Iraq's Provisional Elections: the Stakes, International Crisis Group (2009)
This report analyzes thoroughly the political scenario in Iraq right before the 2009 elections. Iraq has to address a series of fundamental issues that have long been ignored: deteriorating security, mismanagement, dysfunctional governance and corruption among all. Since the 2005 elections there have been significant improvements – a new generation of politicians will be competing, for example – but much has to improve.
