The President is elected by popular vote to serve a 6-year term. In the National Assembly (Assemblee Nationale) 109 members are elected by popular vote to serve 5-year terms.

According to Article 24 of the 2004 Constitution the President of the Republic is elected for a five-year term.

According to CAR law the National Assembly (Assemblee Nationale) is made up of 105 members, one member is elected in each constituency.
