- BRIDGE Training Workshops (Giza, Egypt, from Jun 29, 2008 03:20 PM to Jul 03, 2008 03:20 PM)
- With the aim of contributing to the electoral reform process in Egypt, IFES and UNDP-Egypt in cooperation with the NCHR organized BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Election) training in 2008. The workshop brought together selected participants representing various election stakeholders in Egypt to enhance their understanding of the principles that underpin the electoral process and share with them comparative experience from the region and other parts of the world as a framework in which to assess their own local experience and draw on best practices and lessons learned. IFES and UNDP convened the training workshop from June 29 until July 03, 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Giza.

- This seminar in Washington, D.C. will discuss the high stakes of Egypt's upcoming election. Amr Hamzawy, research director and a senior associate at the Carnegie Middle East Center, and Michele Dunne, a senior associate in the Middle East Program will discuss this issue.

- Egypt will elect a new president this month after Hosni Mubarak's downfall in February 2011. 13 candidates are currently listed; if no candidate wins more than half the vote a secondary election is scheduled for June 16th and 17th.
