Catalan election result deals blow to embattled Spanish government, Deutsche Welle (2010)
This article reports on the regional elections in Catalonia. The governing Socialist Party suffered an harsh defeat in the regional poll: the center-right Convergence and Union party (CiU) received 38.1% of the votes cast (62 seats out of 135 at stake. The party, however, did not win the needed absolute majority). The Socialist Party, on the other hand, won 18.6% (the worst result in 32 years), while the Popular party won 12.4%.
