France: Sarkozy's party loses regional election, BBC News (2010)

President Sarkozy's UMP party has suffered a defeat in the second round of regional elections, getting only 35% of votes, while the socialist led opposition won 52% of the ballots. As a result, UMP will control only one of the 22 regions.
