Georgia, Final Report on the 21 May 2008 parliamentary elections, OSCE/ODIHR (2008)
Final report of OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission on the 21 May 2008 parliamentary elections in Georgia. International Election Obsevation Mission concluded that “overall, these elections clearly offered an opportunity for the Georgian people to choose their representatives from amongst a wide array of choices. The authorities and other political stakeholders made efforts to conduct these elections in line with OSCE and Council of Europe commitments.” However, the IEOM “identified a number of problems which made this implementation uneven and incomplete.”
Comments on the Georgian elections by the CECE (2008)
We shall have a look at the Council of Europe’s observation of the Parliamentary elections in Georgia (21 May 2008) and the corresponding OSCE – ODIHR election mission statement of preliminary findings and conclusions. We will in no way make a summary of the two or try to pit one against the other. Both approaches are different and so be it. We will be technical, practical and professional.
