Israel: Ehud Barak quits weakened Labor to form new party, Ha'aretz (2011)
This article reports on Defense Minister's Ehud Barak resignation as chairman of the Labor Party. Following months of discussions inside the party, Ehud Barak decided to step down and form a new political force called Atzmaut (Independence) with four other party members, which will eventually become a political party. Mr Barak and his four colleagues are expected to remain in the government coalition.
