Kenya: Parties to receive more funding from government, Daily Nation (2009)

Political parties will receive billions of shillings in financial support if the draft is passed. It proposes that Parliament allocates the Political Parties Fund not more than 0.3 per cent of the previous financial year’s national budget. The draft constitution indicates that the money allocated to a political party from the fund is for the purposes of covering the election expenses of the party. It adds that the party may use the money for administrative expenses, adding that this must not exceed 10 per cent of the allocation.
