Lebanon: Political rifts complicate municipal election reforms, The Daily Star (2010)
Several reforms proposed to change the electoral law for the June municipal elections had to be postponed due to the political schisms in the Cabinet. The deepest divide is on how to handle the municipality of Beirut, but also whether municipality heads and their deputies should be directly elected.
