Myanmar: Amendments to Political Party Law Approved, The Irrawaddy (2011).

This article discusses the approval of political party law amendments by Myanmar’s Lower House of Parliament. In the amendment clause titled “Preservation of the Constitution” will be replaced by “Respect and Obedience of the Constitution”, the clause which prohibits “anyone convicted by a court of law from joining a political party” will be removed, and the amendment for a political party to be recognized as long as it has contested at least three constituencies in by-elections.
