EISA Workshop on Performance of Political Parties in the 2009 Elections: Examining the Weakening of Party Systems in Malawi

This workshop took place as a part of the post election review. The principal goal of the workshop was to reflect on the 2009 presidential and parliamentary elections in Malawi and critically assess its implications for institutionalisation of the party system in view of the fact that parties play a key role in the democratisation process. ACE was promoted during this event.

BRIDGE Train the Trainers Course for Malawi Electoral Commission

Two workshops were held as part of this event: Orientation Workshop for Commissioners and Training of Trainers Workshop for the Malawi Electoral Commission. The Orientation was a part of the ACE Capacity Building Facility and the Enhancing Capacity of Election Practitioners (ECEP) programmes, which are both implemented by EISA. The Training targeted mainly the MEC staff who are responsible for designing, planning and conducting training for their colleagues in carrying out different activities associated with the management of the 2009 elections. Both workshops were aimed at commissioners and members of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

SADC - ESN Capacity Building Workshop (EISA/ NDI)

The workshop organized by EISA and NDI was for members of the SADC Electoral Support Members. It was the fourth under a programme designed to improve election observation by regional monitoring organisations. It focused on improving communications systems through technology and monitoring elections in accordance with regional and international standards. ACE was used as part of the workshop.
