Nigeria: Ex-convicts may be allowed to contest election, Leadership Nigeria (2010)
The House of Representatives will vote on a bill that is to amend the 1999 Constitution that bars ex-convicts from contesting for a public office for 10 years. According to the Bill's sponsor, the main aim of the bill is to amend the provisions of the Constitution by prohibiting discrimination against ex-convicts, encouraging their reintegration and eliminating the victimization process as well.
