Nigeria: Labor Party challenges INEC's power to determine polls timetable, AllAfrica (2010)

This article reports on the decision of the Labor Party to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission to a Federal High Court. The Labor Party argues that if elections are held according to the current schedule the smaller parties would be disadvantaged - as voters would lean towards the President's party. The LP believes that it would be better to have the State Assemblies and Governors elections first, and then the Presidential and National Assembly ones. In the meantime, the INEC asked for a time extension, and the National Assembly is currently reviewing the Electoral Act.
