Nigeria ruling party wants Muslim leader for 2011 poll, BBC News (2010)
Nigeria's ruling People's Democratic Party has indicated that since a southern Christian had led Nigeria for 8 years, a northern Muslim should now be able to do the same. This would effectively disable the acting president, Goodluck Jonathan who is a southern Christian, to run for presidency in 2011. Under an unwritten power-sharing agreement within the People's Democratic Party, party's presidential candidates should rotate between north and south after every two terms in office.
