Carter Center Finds Southern Sudan Voter Registration Credible, Strong Step Toward Referendum Despite Some Weaknesses, Cater Centre (2010)

In a statement issued today 15 Dec, The Carter Center reported that although the voter registration for the Southern Sudan Referendum on self-determination faced several logistical, procedural, and security challenges, the process was generally credible and represents a strong step toward the successful conduct of the referendum. At the same time, the Center noted that the ultimate success of the voter registration process will depend on the final stages of completing the voter list.
