Sudan rejects UN monitoring for elections, Sudan Tribune (2010)

According to the ruling National Congress Party, the UN cannot be monitoring the April 2010 elections since it would be outside of the scope of the National Election Law, which authorizes specific countries and parties to participate in election observation. The statement was a reaction to remarks made by Umma Reform and Renewal Party leader Al-Fadil who called for free and fair elections administered by the UN in a manner similar to countries such as DRC or Afghanistan.
