These terms of membership must be accepted in order to become a member of the ACE Practitioners' Network. The terms of membership were amended in March 2012.
By registering as a member of the ACE Practitioners' Network, and thereby gaining access to the area of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network’s website that is restricted to Members of the Practitioners’ Network (hereinafter “the ACE Workspace”), you are agreeing to comply with, and be bound by, the following Terms of Membership, namely that you:
1. Agree that you alone are responsible for your participation and the content you post on the ACE Workspace.
2. Agree that neither the ACE Partner organisations, the ACE Secretariat nor the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network or any person or entity associated with them, may be held responsible for the content, accuracy, completeness or validity of any information or commentaries posted in any areas of the ACE Workspace or ACE Website by the members of the ACE Practitioners’ Network.
3. Agree that, when submitting comments, responses or other contributions via the ACE Workspace, these will be in the form of advice, opinions and guidance and therefore will be non-prescriptive in nature.
4. Agree that any content you submit via the ACE Workspace will not be condescending, intimidating, harassing, forceful or partisan to any political agenda in any way.
5. Agree that you will not use the ACE Workspace to send or post any material, or links to any material, which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, racially offensive, inaccurate, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise objectionable material of any kind or nature, or otherwise in violation of any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation.
6. Agree that any comments/responses you provide on the ACE Workspace express only your views and do not necessarily reflect the views of any of the ACE Partner organisations or any person or entity associated with them.
7. Agree that your membership and participation on the ACE Workspace must not motivated by any commercial interests. You also agree that any contributions you make via the ACE Workspace must not promote any vendor or product of a vendor.
8. Agree that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your user name and password.
9. Agree that, by submitting content via the ACE Workspace you grant to the ACE Secretariat and the ACE Partner organisations a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, communicate to the public, perform and display the content (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, for the full term of any rights that may exist in such content. You also agree to permit any user of the ACE Website to access, display, view, store and reproduce content produced in replies to open questions on the ACE Workspace that has subsequently been published on the ACE Website. Such content may be used for personal or educational use with acknowledgement to the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network.
10. Undertake and warrant to the ACE Partner organisations that you are the legal and beneficial owner of the copyright to any material you publish on the ACE Workspace, and that such material will not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party, nor will it breach any contract or duty of confidence.
11. Agree that the ACE Secretariat, through the ACE Network Facilitators, reserves the right to determine what constitutes Internet abuse and objectionable conduct and have the discretion to edit, summarise and/or remove any message, text, phrase, word, posting or commentary they consider unclear, misleading, objectionable or inappropriate.
12. Agree that, if the ACE Network Facilitators, acting on behalf of the ACE Partner organisations through the ACE Secretariat, believe, in their sole discretion, that a breach of any of the above-mentioned clauses has occurred, they may take responsive action. Such action may include, but not be limited to, permanent removal of illegal or inappropriate information or content, or suspension or termination of your membership of the ACE Practitioners' Network and access to the ACE Workspace.
13. Agree that you will indemnify ACE Partner Organisations, the ACE Secretariat, the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network and/or any person or entity associated with them against any loss, injury or claim arising out of any breach or alleged breach of the terms of the above terms of membership.
