Betilde Muñoz-PogossianBetilde Muñoz-Pogossian received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida International University in Miami, FL. Her research focuses on democratization issues in Latin America, including the study of electoral systems, executive-legislative relations, and gender, among other issues. Her most recent publications include an article entitled “Gendered Language and (Unequal) Power: Deconstructing US-Latin American Relations in the Early Cold War” in International Politics (2008 v. 45) and the book Electoral Rules and the Transformation of Bolivian Politics: The Rise of Evo Morales published in September 2008 by Palgrave McMillan. In 2008, she won the Outstanding Performance Award given by the General Secretariat of the OAS in recognition for her extraordinary performance and contributions to the OAS. She has worked on the development and systematization of electoral observation methodologies and has been an international observer and Deputy Chief of Missions in various Electoral Observation Missions of the Organization of American States in the last seven years (Bolivia, Peru, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Panama, among others). She has worked in democracy issues for the last 15 years. |
