Daniel Calingaert

Daniel Calingaert has worked on democracy and elections for over 20 years. He served as Executive Vice President of Freedom House, where he oversaw Freedom House’s contributions to policy debate and outreach to the U.S. Congress, foreign governments, and media. He previously supervised Freedom House’s civil society and media programs worldwide. He also has taught at Georgetown University’s Master of Arts (M.A.) Program in Democracy and Governance, Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and American University’s School of Public Affairs. Dr. Calingaert has served as Associate Director of American University’s Center for Democracy and Election Management, Associate Director of the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform, and Director for Asia and Deputy Director for Eastern Europe at the International Republican Institute. He received his B.A. from Tufts University and his M.Phil. and D.Phil. from Oxford University.
