Tom Agalomba

Tom Agalomba is a practitioner/consultant with demonstrated competence in planning, capacity development and implementation of electoral projects. With resilience working in conflict and politically unstable environments, he has internalized the Do No Harm principle which has guided his entire employment life enhancing achievement of success in his endeavours. Planning is a key prerequisite to project management. It entails abridging broad aims to objectives which are Specific, Measurable, Achievable Realistic and Time bound. Performance indicators are then identified to guide in ascertaining the achievement of project outputs and outcomes. Indeed the Log frame analysis is appreciated as a fundamental theoretical framework for successful programme design and implementation through Monitoring and Evaluation. The virtues: - innovation, initiative and drive are guiding benchmarks in supporting leadership and colleagues towards achievement of cherished corporate goals. Vast experience in mediation and management of electoral projects (Six UN Field Missions) has enabled Tom internalize the virtues of neutrality, humanity, patience, persistence and multi-culturalism. These values have enhanced his lobbying skills, the language and mien for persuasion and consensus building as a negotiator. He endeavours to mainstream gender and conflict sensitivity in execution of responsibilities to ensure work coherence with all stakeholders in theatre. Tom is flexible and a highly elastic personality this enables understanding and hence synchronizing the aims and objectives of other stakeholders in programme work to influence a common course to attainment of collateral success. In 2009 Tom was deployed by the UNDP to coordinate Elections in Takhar, a province of 17 districts in Afghanistan. Within incredibly short time frame, working with not very experienced nationals and in extremely difficult conditions; he managed to effectively enable all staff to respect intense training calendar leading to elections. Success was achieved due to an instituted mentoring policy that enabled delegation of duties. He learnt and now appreciates the power of open door and paternalistic approaches when working with people of an unfamiliar background to inculcate confidence and team spirit. During this assignment, Tom worked closely with both national and international experts that provided technical support to the Afghan people and the government. These engagements have instilled in him integrity, professionalism and respect for diversity as core values for achievement of corporate goals. He has experience in building, managing and maintaining relationships and is indeed an energetic and motivated team builder.
