Iraqis voted in national elections this week in polls set to shape the country’s future ahead of the planned United States withdrawal from the country later this year. In Baghdad, where a series of attacks killed at least 37 people on voting day, the official 53 per cent turnout was one of the lowest in Iraq. Elsewhere, there was a turnout of around 62 per cent as people appeared to favour issues of services and the economy over sectarian bias.

Voter Education Game- I am a Voter
|
The UNDP/UNICEF/Peacebuilding Fund Project “Women – peaceful Voters and Candidates” (Kyrgyzstan) has developed a board game for mobilizing and educating women voters. The game is a very cost effective tool for civic education and voter outreach.

While it was developed for the Kyrgyz/Central Asian context, it was translated from Russian into English and French, hoping that it can be used in or adopted to other contexts. The game consists of the board displayed in the picture, as well as of a cover and instructions.
