صدر تقرير عن مركز كارتر الذي أرسل بعثة لدراسة الانتخابات التي أجريت في الاردن بتاريخ 32 كانون الثاني/يناير 2013. وقد خلص التقرير إلى أن النجاح النهائي للأنتخابات سوف يعتمد على ما إذا كان الملك عبد الله الثاني والقوى السياسية الرئيسية يمكنهما العمل معا لتعزيز اصلاح ذي مغزى. ويشمل هذا إقرار قانون انتخابات جديد قائم على توافق الاراء لإنشاء نظام انتخابات أكثر تمثيلا يكون بمثابة آلية مجدية للمساءلة الديمقراطية. وقد وجد المركز أنه يجب الثناء على جهود الهيئة الجديدة المستقلة للإنتخاب ، على الرغم من الاطار الزمني المحدود لإعداد الانتخابات. وقدم التقرير الكامل لمركز كارتر عدة توصيات لتحسين الانتخابات المقبلة وتعزيز عملية الاصلاح الجارية في الاردن.

This report explores how social networks influence political competition across the electoral cycle primarily through evaluating electoral process in the Arab world (emphasis on Egypt, Jordan, Libya, and Tunisia) under authoritarian and transitional regimes. As social networks shape elections, elections subsequently influence social arrangements. Although this report draws examples from the Arab world, the confluence of political and social realms is also prevalent in Western countries.

رغم مرور خمسة عقود على بدء المشاركة السياسية للمراة في الاردن ، الا ان هذه المشاركة لا تزال ضعيفة ولا ترتقي لمستوى نسبة تمثيل المراة في المجتمع الاردني، او الانجازات التي حققتها على الصعد الاجتماعية والاقتصادية . ويظهر ضعف تمثيل المراة ومشاركتها في الحياة السياسية، من خلال ضعف تمثيلها في الحكومات والبرلمان والنقابات والاحزاب السياسية .

الأردن، إمكانية الإنتقال من رتابة الإنتخابات إلى ملكية ديموقراطية دستورية، 2007
|
تنص المادة الأولى من الدستور الأردني على أن نظام الحكم فيه "نيابي ملكي وراثي". وبذلك من المفترض أن يكون الأردن دولة ديموقراطية دستورية ملكية، شبيهة بالملكيات الأروروبية المعاصرة مثل بريطانيا، والسويد، وأسبانيا، وبلجيكا. وفق دساتير هذه الملَكيات الديموقراطية، وعلى مثالها صيغ الدستور الأردني.
