وصف النظام الانتخابي

رئيس الدولة يوافق عليه في استفتاء شعبي عام لفترة مدتها 7 سنوات.
أعضاء مجلس الشعب البالغ عددهم 250 عضواً يتم انتخابهم عن طريق التصويت الشعبي لمدة 4 سنوات.

الانتخابات البرلمانية 2007

جرت الانتخابات البرلمانية في سوريا في 22 نيسان / أبريل 2007. وكانت عدد المقاعد المحجوزة للجبهة الوطنية التقدمية ازدادت من 167 إلى 170 ، وانخفضت حصة النواب المستقلين من 83 الى 80. وقد قاطعت المعارضة الانتخابات، والتي وصفتها بأنها "مهزلة".
