Mandu Sagnia Sajaw

My name is Mandu Sagnia Sajaw borned on the 5th January 1960 in the small village of Kantali Kunda in the Republic of The Gambia to Foday Sagnia and Sona Sajaw. I attended Fatoto primary school, Latri Kunda Secondary school and then Gambia High school. After leaving Gambia High, I went to the then Yundum college where I did my bachelor degree in education and immediately went to teach in Ndungu Kebbeh primary school in the North Bank Division of the Gambia. I taught for a while, almost 2 years when I went to work for Basse Municipal Council as Finance and Project officer. In 1987 I changed my field and became a politician and therefore contested parliamentary elections of Kantora constituency and won by a large majority of votes. I was appointed to the office of Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Water Resources, Forestry and Fisheries. I 1990, I was re-deployed to the Ministry of the Interior as Assistant Minister up til 1992 when we went to presidential and parliamentary elections.In this around, I was won and was moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Lands where I stayed until July 22,1994 when the army toppled the democratically elected government for which worked. In November, 1995, I left the country Gambia for Spain where I apply for [political asylum and was granted. My family joined me in Madrid Spain in June of 1998 and up to this date,I live there with my family.
