Staffan I. LindbergStaffan I. Lindberg is assistant professor at Department of Political Science and Center for African Studies, University of Florida. His research expertise ranges from state building, political clientelism, political parties, legislative-executive relations, women’s representation, voting behavior, elections and democracy, to the workings of neopatrimonial networks. Lindberg uses both quantitative statistical methods, survey techniques and ethnographic field work to accomplish his research agenda. He worked as full-time consultant to Parliament of Ghana 1999-2001 and has completed several other consultancies on good governance, political reform, civil society, and support to local research capacity building in various African countries (for USAID, Danida, EISA, Sida, Ibis), reviewer for a number of academic journals, book press and the NSF. His dissertation The Power of Elections received the American Political Science Association’s Juan Linz Prize for Best Dissertation in 2005. His book Democracy and Elections in Africa is out in 2006 (Johns Hopkins University Press). |
