Derrick Marco

Master Degree with 16 years experience in election related conflict mitigation or management Spent seven years in West Africa covering the 2003 and 2007 elections in Nigeria formalizing the tracking - response system in election related conflict and violence Worked in East Africa with a base in Uganda from 1999 - 2002 on elections and election conflict and violence as well as tracking / response systems in election violence Honed the skills on conflict and violence within South Africa and the SADC region with the largest part of my work in South Africa over a period stretching from 1976 - 1998. Also worked in Afghanistan, Slovakia where a election observer book was designed in collaboration with OSCE, sometime in Europe but most of the field experiences are from 12+ countries on the continent of Africa. The most significant materials produced that I edited are the conflict tracking dossiers from 2006 - 2007 in Nigeria (7 quarterly reports were released and five published). Derrick Marco is a trained theologian who is presently researching "communicative action - reactivating civic activism
