Praxedes Tororey

I am a Lawyer by proffession and currently serving as Director Legal and Public Affairs at Kenyas Electoral Management Body (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission). I have been instrumental in the establishment of the Legal Directorate and development of Electoral Laws and Regulations. Among other reforms spearheaded I have conducted training on Voter Registration and facilitated the training of all our field Staff on Conflict mitigation and Dispute resolution. I have participated in the development of Regional Instruments including the draft Principles on Election Observation in the East African Community and the IGAD Protocol on Democracy, Governance and Elections. Previously I served in the Judiciary as a Magistrate for over 16 years and in addition to resolving disputes was a trainer on Jurisprudence of Equality.I have also served as a Corporation Secretary with the Kenya Forest service where I developed legislation to give effect to the Forest Act. I hold an LLB from the University of Nairobi and a Masters Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. I have attended several trainings in my quest to improve my career development. I am a member of the Law Society of Kenya, International Commission of Jurists, Kenya Women Judges amongst others.
