Erik AsplundMr. Erik Asplund has been working for International IDEA since 2009, starting with the Democracy Assessment and Analysis Programme and then with the Electoral Processes Programme. Currently he is assigned to work on the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network (ACE Manager/Coordinator 2016-2017), the BRIDGE professional development programme curriculum update as well as the Electoral Risk Management project. Erik has worked with several Electoral Management Bodies which includes the UEC (Myanmar), IEBC (Kenya), INEC (Nigeria), ECN (Nepal), ECI (India), ISIE (Tunisia), CEC (Bosnia & Herzegovina), SEC (Macadonia) HNEC (Libya), JNE (Peru), ZEC (Zanzibar) and NEC (Tanzania) on election related projects. Before joining International IDEA, he worked for: the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI); the Verification Research, Training and Information Centre (VERTIC); the Central-Asia Caucasus Institute; Tostan and Government of the Gambia Women’s Bureau. Erik holds a Master's in International Studies from the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University as well as a B.A. Modern History, Economic History and Politics (University of London) and a B.Sc in Economics (Stockholm University). Moreover he holds certificates from the Paris-Sorbonne University, Fudan University (Shanghai, China), Folke Bernadotte Academy (Sweden) and PATRIR (Romania). Erik also works as an polling officer during general and EU elections in Sweden. |
